Barbara sees receiving spiritual direction is a natural step in the deepening, inner journey of spiritual seekers. Becoming a spiritual director through the Mercy Center Spiritual Direction Program (Burlingame, San Francisco, CA) reflected her commitment to faith, education and service.
Barbara's extensive education also includes post graduate studies at Fuller Theological Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary. In addition to companioning others, Barbara serves the Diocese of Monterey as Coordinator of Spiritual Directors (including its Bilingual-Bicultural Spiritual) and as Associate Director of Spirituality for Diaconate Formation. She has served on the Diocese's Pastoral Planning/Visioning Councils and with her husband, Deacon Doug Winston, began the Diocese's Diaconate Formation Program including formal studies and an earned Masters in Pastoral Studies from Loyola University New Orleans.
Barbara and Deacon Doug have two daughters and six grandchildren, and relish an annual family gathering dubbed "Camp Winston." Together, Barbara and Doug served on the Retrouvialle Ministry's presenting team and International Board.
