Join Stillpoint for a Rumi Poetry Reading with special guest presenter, Imam Jamal Rahman of The Interfaith Amigos. Jamal will share and shed light on the beautiful, deeply moving words of the most translated poet in the world: Jalal ad-Din Rumi.

A Persian Sufi or mystic, a scholar, theologian, and poet, Rumi led a dervish learning community in Turkey that existed “to open the heart, to explore the mystery of union, to fiercely search for and try to say truth, and to celebrate the glory and difficulty of being in a human incarnation.”

Sufism, the mystical arm of Islam, emphasizes the interior life. Across centuries, continents and cultures, Rumi’s poems provide relatable words and wisdom for those seeking meaning. Rumi often refers to the Divine as guest or friend.

Imam Jamal Rahman is a Muslim Sufi interfaith minister and popular speaker on Islam, Sufi spirituality, and interfaith relations. Along with his Interfaith Amigos, he has been featured in the New York Times, on CBS News, BBC, and various NPR programs. Jamal is a co-founder of Interfaith Community Sanctuary in Seattle, WA, and adjunct faculty at Seattle University.
