Communion, Contemplation & Compassion: The Writings of Henri Nouwen & Thomas Merton

The monk-poet Thomas Merton and the psychologist-priest Henri Nouwen had much in common: a deep commitment to the interior life and an ardent responsibility for ministry to the world, although their way of expressing both was different by its nature.

Stillpoint invites you to accompany us as we explore aspects of their lives of prayer and service. We will use passages from their responsive writings to underscore their thought on the three key compnents of their spirituality: communion, contemplation and compassion.

Facilitated by Michael W. Higgins and Gabrielle Earnshaw.
Higgins in a distinguished Professor of Catholic Thought, Sacred Heart University, CT and biographer of Thomas Merton. Earnshaw is Chief Archivist for the Henri Nouwen Society and founding curator of the Nouwen Archives.
